New Year shopping sprees are nothing new but it seems snapping up a good buy in January has also been embraced by Big Pharma with at least half a dozen companies announcing acquisition deals totalling almost $35 billion in the first two weeks of 2025.
The biggest deal, announced at the JP MOrgan Healthcare Conference this week, goes to Johnson & Johnson which has forked out $23.5 billion (US$14.6 billion) to buy out Intra-Cellular Therapies, a 23-year-old company that develops and markets products for the central nervous system.
