TGA listing 'lacks evidence '

Two experts have called the TGA out on its decision to grant Caruso's Natural Health a 'TGA-assessed' symbol for its herbal medicine last month, warning it will likely further reduce confidence of GPs and consumers in Australia's regulation of complementary medicines.

The assessed listed medicines (AUST L(A)) pathway introduced just over three years ago allows sponsors of complementary medicines to list their products using intermediate level health claims if supported by a pre-market assessment of scientific evidence by the TGA.
